The Xiaomi Redmi 1S features dual-SIM and run by a very powerful 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (MSM8228) with 1 GB RAM. It also has a single SIM 4G LTE version which runs on quad-core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU. The display for Xiaomi Redmi 1S is 4.7 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors 720 x 1280 pixels. The glass protection is made from AGC Dragontrail glass.
It has ample storage at 8 GB that is expandable using microSD, up to 32 GB. Connection features includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, microUSB v2.0, and Bluetooth. The main camera at the back is 8 MP with autofocus, LED flash while the front secondary camera is 1.6 MP, 720p@30fps.

In India, the High Court halted the selling of Xiaomi because it run on the technology patented by Swedish technology company Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson however on Tuesday they allowed Xiaomi to import and sell Qualcomm chipset-based phones temporarily up to January 8. The company also announced that they will be having a flash sale on December 23 Tuesday for the budget Redmi 1S in India.

The phase out of 3G networks in exchange for a 4G LTE capabilities has now started, some are now occurring in Manhattan, according to reports.
Verizon Wireless is has started working to change 3G networks to a 4G LTE network that will improve services and will be faster and more reliable. The initial switch happened in Manhattan in New York City as reported on Digital Trends. They had also removed some 3G frequencies in Manhattan, and then turn them back on this time using LTE signals. This is still work-in progress and would need some time to complete.
Verizon is aiming to have the entire infrastructure based on 4G LTE service for its customers. They are the largest wireless carrier in the United States, followed by AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.
If you are one of the low-tech people who uses old cell phones that uses Verizon’s 3G network, be warned that your old phone days are numbered as they are slowly taking steps to shut the 3G network down.
The company called the transition from 3G to 4G LTE as “spectrum reframing”. Verizon official had confirmed that they are doing tests on 3G spectrum and 4G LTE but they insist that it will take a long time to shut down the 3G network. That is understandable since presently about 41% of Verizon’s mobile traffic still uses 2G or 3G.
